Bio

Petri Juntunen (b. Gothenburg, Sweden) is a Finnish visual artist and doctoral candidate, currently living and working in Helsinki. In his works and projects, Juntunen studies the topics of collective memory, social constructs and topology of place. To expand the photographic expression, he is often using novel methods of imaging and representation including 3D scanning, photogrammetry, installations and VR. He has participated in several group and solo exhibitions in Europe and Finland, the latest solo exhibition at Guernsey Photofestival Sunken Gardens and his works appear in private and museum collections.

Apart from acting as a visual artist, Juntunen has been worked as a director, cinematographer and photojournalist. His first monograph "At The Heart Of It All" was published by the German publisher Hatje Cantz. Currently Juntunen is conducting doctoral research at Aalto University Department of Art and Media, titled "Worlding Virtual Worlds - Photography's Transformation Within Virtual Reality".
